Privacy Policy

Quizma (quizma.app) is a free, non-commercial service for creating and playing real-time quizzes, operated by a private individual. We take privacy seriously — we only collect what is necessary to run the service, and we never sell data or use it for advertising.

1. Data controller

The data controller is the private individual operating Quizma. Contact: info@quizma.app

2. What data we process

Quiz creators: owner email addresses (used to access and manage quizzes), quiz content (title, questions, answers, images) and the edit code.
Players: the nickname entered when joining a game, answers, score and response time. No registration is required. We recommend using a nickname rather than your full real name.
Technical data: IP address and basic device data are processed short-term in hosting system logs (Vercel) to keep the service running and prevent abuse.
Anonymous analytics: we use Vercel Analytics — cookieless traffic measurement that does not profile individual visitors.

3. Cookies and local storage

We do not use any advertising or tracking cookies, which is why there is no cookie banner. The browser's localStorage only holds functional data: your selected language and your "My quizzes" login (if you choose to save it). This data stays in your browser and you can delete it at any time.

4. Purpose and legal basis

We process data solely to provide the service — creating, managing and playing quizzes (Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR) — and to secure and protect the service, including anonymous analytics (legitimate interest, Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR). We do not use data for marketing and we never sell it.

5. Data recipients (processors)

Vercel Inc. — hosting and anonymous analytics. Transfers to the USA are covered by the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework.
Supabase — the database storing quizzes, game sessions and answers.
Giphy / Unsplash — when searching for images and GIFs in the quiz editor, requests go directly from your browser to these services (they see your IP address and search term).

6. Retention

Quizzes and related data are kept for as long as the quiz exists. Game sessions, player nicknames and answers are kept to display results. You can request deletion of a quiz, an email address or any other data at any time by email.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you have the right to:

access your data and obtain a copy,
have inaccurate data corrected,
have your data erased ("right to be forgotten"),
restrict or object to processing,
data portability.

To exercise your rights, email info@quizma.app. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority — in Slovakia, the Office for Personal Data Protection (dataprotection.gov.sk).

8. Children

Playing a quiz requires no registration and no personal data beyond a nickname. The service is suitable for schools — we recommend that students use nicknames.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The current version is always published on this page together with the date of the last update.
